Less than a year after their debut, Donna Regina released their second album, Almaty, in 1993—this time on the Hamburg-based label Strange Ways, which stepped in at just the right moment after Our Choice/Rough Trade had dropped out. The album features nine original songs as well as a cover of the classic La Madrague, originally sung by Brigitte Bardot. With the twelve-and-a-half-minute title track Almaty, the band presented their longest piece to date. In their now eight-track studio, Donna Regina experimented with new sounds, including a Hawaiian guitar, which can be heard right in the opening track, Full Silver Moon.

Now, Almaty returns—available digitally for the first time, making it accessible to a new generation of listeners.
