The band YELKA are Christian Obermaier (drums), Yelka Wehmeier (bass, vocals), and Daniel Meteo (guitar). Their latest album “In a Rose Hat” was also released on Karaoke Kalk in April of last year. The new album “Jeans” is already finished, with a release planned for late spring. In the meantime, the wait is being bridged with a wonderful cover of the Steely Dan classic and critic favorite “King of the World.”

The song was recorded in early summer 2025 at Popschutz Studio with Arne Berger, who also plays a major role leading the background choir, and is complemented by the amazing Daniel Nentwig, who is also part of The Whitest Boy Alive and Otto von Bismarck on synthesizer, who simply listens once and recreates this beautiful melody – one of the best synth hooks of the 1970s – for YELKA.
